The Town of Winfield recently qualified for a Clean Energy Grant of $50,000 through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The grant will include several energy-saving components designed to save taxpayer dollars including LED lighting for Town facilities, better sealing garage doors for the Town Garage, and more benefits to be announced. The Town qualified by completing a number of action items over a year-long process including adoption of a state-wide unified solar permitting process, energy codes training, energy monitoring, and installation of a low cost electric vehicle charging station. The Village of West Winfield has also completed the grant process. By doing so, both the Town and Village have earned the certification of ‘Clean Energy Community’.
